Introductory Filmmaking/Digital Editing Class

This course is offered through the Windham Regional Career Center and is designed to teach high school students the fundamentals of filmmaking. Students explore the skills and knowledge involved in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, lighting, picture and sound editing. Then students learn how to digitize and edit footage together in the computer. Using iMacs and a variety of software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Ableton Live, students work individually and in teams through various projects.

Each student is responsible for creating a two minute documentary and their own original short film. No previous computer skills are necessary – emphasis is on initiative, imagination, and creativity.

This course offers dual enrollment credit through the Windham Regional Collegiate High School program, giving those enrolled the opportunity to receive college credit for their work.
