Fern Tavalin – Hon. Board Member

Fern Tavalin directs the WEB Project, one of the first 19 US Dept of Education Technology Innovation Challenge Grants. The project focuses on multimedia telecommunications and consists of an extensive network of schools across Vermont who exchange samples of work. The Vermont Historical Society, the Vermont Arts Council, Center for the Book, and the Vermont Alliance for Arts Education play a key role in shaping WEB Project initiatives. Previously, Fern served as the director of the Vermont Arts Assessment Project and helped to develop the Vermont Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities. She received her doctorate in education from UMASS, Amherst and her undergraduate degree in economics from Franklin and Marshall College.
